LIONS BEAT RIVAL ARTHUR TO IMPROVE TO 6 - 9
The struggling Lions came to play Monday night when the Blue and White hosted their biggest rival, the Arthur Conquering Riders. The game was neck and neck throughout three quarters of play until the Lions started to break away in the fourth due to some Arthur turnovers and with some help from the Coliseum Crazies who were once again as rowdy as ever. The Riders made one last run at the end of the fourth but due to fouls, the Lions sealed the 57 - 47 win with a few timely free throws.
Even though this was not the Bravium game, the annual game played against Arthur for the prized cup, it was still a big win coming back from Christmas break against the Lions' biggest rival and during a season that has seen plenty of losses and not as many wins.
Sophomores Steven Deister and Joseph Martin have been playing big time minutes since the Christmas break and have earned their place on the starting lineup while Thomas Brauner is still bench ridden due to injury. Junior Dominic Hering has started to hit the court in both JV and Varsity games after suffering a pre-season injury. Hering has played well and will likely see more minutes in the future.
The Lions head out to play St. Thomas More on Friday at 7:30 PM Central Time.
