Lions End Regular Season in Dramatic Fashion

The Coliseum saw its last basketball game of the season on Saturday, February 25th, as the varsity basketball team took down a talented Indiana Math & Science Academy team.  After leading by as much as 18 in the first half, the Lions found themselves trailing by 3 in the fourth quarter.  An and-one from James Roth, a couple timely free throws from James Deister, and a charge with one-second left on the clock (taken by Deister), sealed a 70-67 victory.

The varsity team concluded the regular season with a record of 19-6, while the JV ended their season with a loss, and a final record of 18-3.

The Lions will conclude their season this weekend at the NCSAA Basketball Championships in Mt. Vernon, OH.

Deister and the Lions Rewrite the Record Books

The Lions basketball team hosted ChicagoQuest in a Saturday afternoon double-header and were victorious twice, moving their record to 18-6.  The first of the two games was a one-sided, 79-55 victory, that saw 12 Lions put the ball through the basket.  In the second game, the Lions broke a record they set earlier this season by scoring 102 points in a 102-42 victory.  James Deister also broke the individual scoring record with 57 points, breaking the previous record of 39, held by John Wernowsky.

This Saturday, February 25th, will be the Lions’ final regular season game, as they host Indiana Math & Science Academy.
